During the First World War, some German people stayed in Qingdao, China, a place far away from their home. A hundred years later, their families traveled thousands of miles to explore their stories in Qingdao. The old man Hoffmann in this movie is one of them.
The story started from the fireplace of a 100-year-old building located at 1 Zhongshan Road in Qingdao. From a missing piece of the design on the fireplace, the secret why Hoffmann’s father stayed in Qingdao after the First World War until his death was uncovered. With the help of Lin, an archivist from Qingdao Municipal Archives, Hoffmann finally found the answer and fell in love with this beautiful city...
The movie described the love of the two German generations for Qingdao. Let’s touch the history, feel the modern times, and reveal those vanished memories with the context of the city.
