Matching expertise to the project
Assignments take account of language direction, domain experience, document type and availability. Technical, legal and medical content requires an understanding of the subject as well as the language.
Clear working arrangements
Scope, quality requirements, confidentiality, deadlines and feedback arrangements are agreed in advance. Conflicts of interest, incomplete material or work outside a specialist’s competence should be raised promptly.
Clarify competence and responsibilities before assignment
- Demonstrate subject familiarity through document types and explainable terminology decisions; identify specialist review needs separately.
- Agree subcontracting permissions, permitted tools and query ownership; refer material beyond your competence to the coordinator.
- For team projects, align a sample and terminology decisions before allocating batches; individual choices need approval before becoming project-wide rules.
